Shavika Singha, AMFT
Culturally Attuned Therapy for Adults & Couples.
Specializing in anxiety, intergenerational trauma, and relationships for South Asian and BIPOC in San Francisco, Oakland, and California.
Hi, I’m Shavika.
I’m a first-generation, South Asian therapist born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Before becoming a clinician, I spent nearly a decade in the tech industry, pursuing what I believed were the right milestones for success. That path eventually led to burnout and a growing awareness that I was stuck in survival mode—living a life that looked good from the outside but felt disconnected and lonely inside.
My own healing began when I finally turned inward. Therapy helped me unpack intergenerational patterns, tend to my somatic landscape, own my neurodivergence, and begin reconnecting with my Third Culture roots. Rediscovering joy, meaning, and a sense of flow changed the trajectory of my life. That journey is what ultimately brought me to this work and continues to guide how I support high-achievers and couples today.

Services
Individual Therapy
I offer relational and directive psychotherapy for adults navigating high-functioning anxiety, burnout, and complex life transitions. Many of my clients are multicultural, first-generation, or "Third Culture" adults grappling with the pressure of family expectations and corporate/tech achievement.
Using approaches informed by Psychodynamics, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Somatic therapy, our work focuses on unlearning the survival patterns that keep you stuck. We will move beyond just "talking" about problems to developing a grounded, authentic relationship with your body-mind, history, and relationships, so you can move through life with clarity and flow.

Couples Therapy
I help couples strengthen communication, repair trust, and deepen emotional and physical intimacy. My approach is culturally responsive and trauma-informed, specifically designed for partners navigating cross-cultural differences, neurodivergent dynamics, or the friction between distinct cultures like "Western" independence and "Eastern" family values.
Whether you are facing recurring conflict, issues with in-laws and boundaries, or periods of disconnection, therapy offers a supportive space to break intergenerational cycles. We will work to rebuild understanding and restore connection so you can grow together with intention.

My
Approach
My Approach
Therapy is a practice.
It is a space for you to build a relationship with yourself — your needs, your desires, and the way you want to feel and move through the world. My aim is to support that practice with care, integrity, and the steady presence you deserve.
My approach is relational and client-centered, which means you are leading the charge and I’m right there with you. We’ll pay attention to all the parts of you that enter the room — cultural, social, personal, and inherited — because each one carries meaning. We’ll time travel between who you were in the past, how it shows up in your present, and what possible futures you could create. I bridge both coaching and therapeutic styles. I am direct, creative, and structured, while still meeting you exactly where you are and gently challenging you toward growth.
Most of our sessions are talk therapy, and at times I bring in somatic practices or reflective tools to support your work outside the room. Humor, authenticity, and curiosity are core to how I show up, and together we create a space where healing and growth can unfold at a pace that feels right for you. I also support couples in understanding how their histories, cultures, and communication patterns shape the relationship they’re creating together.
Frequently Asked
-
In our first few sessions, we’ll focus on getting to know each other. I’ll gather some background information, learn what brings you in, and understand your goals. As we continue, we’ll co-create a style and rhythm that fits you.
A typical session begins with a brief check-in, followed by space to explore whatever feels most present for you. We might pick up where we left off, follow something emerging in the moment, or explore a theme you want to understand more deeply. The process isn’t always linear, but it’s always collaborative, and my priority is that you feel supported throughout our work together.

All sessions are currently held online through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to ensure your privacy and comfort. When in-person sessions become available again, I will offer a hybrid option so you can choose what works best for your schedule and needs.
-
Therapy is a commitment to yourself, evidence suggests that weekly therapy sessions are the most beneficial. Meeting weekly helps build consistency, trust, and momentum in the work. We’ll reserve a standing day and time for you. This regular rhythm supports deeper exploration and more sustainable growth.
I’m open to occasional rescheduling when life or travel comes up. As we move toward completing our work together, we can shift to bi-weekly sessions. My goal is for you to eventually feel grounded, resourced, and able to be your own strongest support.
-
Therapy is an on-going practice and process. The timeline looks different for everyone. For some many months, for others, perhaps longer. We’ll work together to determine your goals and balance that with any other factors of consideration you might have.
